چکیده
Grafting techniques represent an efficient tool to enhance plant growth and development. The study aims explore the effects of different grafting combinations on eggplants under diverse greenhouse conditions. Eggplant cultivar Black bell (Bb) was employed as scion, while hybrid F1 Beaufort (Be) Solanum torvum (To) were utilized rootstock. hypothesis behind this pertains incompatibility with F1. It postulates that can be mitigated by manipulating soil temperatures. experimental factors encompassed (Bb, Be/Bb To/Bb), well substrate temperature (both cold or heated). combination showed higher values vegetative traits, but it exhibited low compatibility. Additionally, physiological analysis confirmed presence excessive disorder within combination. Examination xylem vessels revealed notable differences between involving Bb rootstock Be/Bb, compared one To/Bb non-grafted Bb. Specifically, area, diameter number approximatively 45% in than Furthermore, a robust linear correlation observed height morphometric except fruits sets. This lays basis for novel protocol agriculture, addressing rootstocks regulating air

Effect of grafting on eggplant leaf gas exchanges under mediterranean greenhouse conditions
Grafting is an easier and faster approach than plant breeding to take advantage of both existing resistant plants, especially wild cultivars, and high-bred cultivars. The aim of this study was to investigate the changes in leaf photosynthetic capacity of a hybrid eggplant Solanum melongena L., cv. Rima (R), widely used in Greece] when grafted on tomato rootstocks known for their resistance to n...
متن کاملEffect of grafting on growth, performance and yield of aubergine (Solanum melongena L.) in greenhouse and open-field
Seedlings of aubergine (Solanum melongena L.) cv. ‘Rima’ were used as scion (R) and control (non-grafted) and rootstock (self-grafted) (RR), while two hybrid tomatoes ‘Heman’ (Lycopersicon hirsutm) and ‘Primavera’ (Lycopersicon esculentum) were used as rootstocks. Grafted and non-grafted plants were grown in the greenhouse and in the open-field. Grafted plants Rima and Heman (RH) were more vigo...
متن کاملGENETIC DIVERGENCE ANALYSIS IN EGGPLANT ( Solanum melongena L . )
Genetic divergence among 19 eggplant genotypes was estimated using Mahalanobis’s D statistic. Altogether five clusters were formed. Cluster I contained the highest number of genotypes (7) and cluster IV and V contained the lowest (2). The pattern of distribution of genotypes from different geographical locations into five clusters was random, demonstrating that geographical isolation may not be...
متن کاملThe WRKY Transcription Factor Genes in Eggplant (Solanum melongena L.) and Turkey Berry (Solanum torvum Sw.)
WRKY transcription factors, which play critical roles in stress responses, have not been characterized in eggplant or its wild relative, turkey berry. The recent availability of RNA-sequencing data provides the opportunity to examine WRKY genes from a global perspective. We identified 50 and 62 WRKY genes in eggplant (SmelWRKYs) and turkey berry (StorWRKYs), respectively, all of which could be ...
متن کاملPLANT REGENERATION IN EGGPLANT (Solanum melongena L.) A REVIEW
Eggplant is highly responsive to various tissue culture techniques. Somatic embryogenesis and direct organogenesis are widely studied protocols in this crop, but potential of regeneration varies with genotype, explant and culture media supplemented with different combination and concentration of growth hormones. The genotype is the most important factor affecting somatic embryogenesis and organ...
